Love Story – Joanne & Andrew – Trish Barker Photography

From the bride & groom:  We met in September 2004 while studying for our Masters of Science in the same Chemistry Lab at the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario, Canada). After being friends for a few months, we started dating In January of 2005. Our first date was memorably horrible (cold, blizzard snow and an unheated restaurant) – we ended up bailing on our reservation & ordering takeout to Joanne’s apartment.  Andrew proposed on November 17 2012 in a beautiful fireside suite in Whistler, BC – on another cold, miserable day! We had talked about getting married for a few years and decided that once we both finished school we would go for it. He had a hard time keeping it secret as Joanne is very ‘curious’ & Andrew is a horrible liar – but it was an amazing day.

From the photographer:  Being a destination wedding photographer, it’s not often that I get the chance to meet with, or photograph the couple prior to the wedding.  With Joanne and Andrew, they were very clear that they wanted an engagement session prior to the wedding because they both said they were not good at taking photos and very awkward in front of the camera.  Well, 3 seconds into their engagement session my jaw dropped because every now and then you get a gorgeous couple who just, naturally, rock your camera.  And these two did just that.  Their engagement session was awesome and I just knew, with how funny and playful they were with each other, that their wedding would be one to remember.  And it was.  It was filled with laughter, personality, fun and meaningful details; from their horse cake topper to the wedding piñata which was a huge hit.  There was laughter, performances from their friends, great stories and, of course, love that was so obvious between them that you can just feel it in the photos.  I absolutely loved this wedding and working with this couple.
