Travel – Sunset at The Grand Canyon – Vero Luce Photography

If you’re anything like me, you have a vast number of must-see travel destinations on your bucket list.  Although I’m working hard to check off these destinations myself, I do also enjoy travelling vicariously through others, especially photographers, and seeing the world through their eyes.

The Grand Canyon is certainly one of the world’s wonders I’d love to see, and these beautiful images of sunset in the canyon only reaffirm that desire.  Thank you Vero Luce Photography, for sharing this amazing moment with us!  I can’t wait to see this in person someday soon.

From the photographer:

The story of how I drove from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon in a convertible just to photograph a sunset to then drive right back is a pretty awesome one.  I had never been and had no idea where I was even going.  I believe the trip is about 4.5 hours.  I drove a gorgeous convertible with the top down (and heat on because it was chilly) to end up in The Grand Canyon National Park with only 45 minutes to go before sunset.

I had no idea where to go to view it or where the best view was so I just drove aimlessly. I pulled up to one spot that had a man with a camera. I figured he might know what he’s doing so I struck up a conversation.  Apparently he had been coming to this exact spot annually to document sunset as it’s supposed to be the best place to see sunset in the entire park.  Who knew??

It had just turned overcast and he disappointedly told me that we probably wouldn’t see it that evening, but he said that the top of one of the hills is a pyramid shape formation, and when the light hits it a certain way it glows.  How cool is that?

Sad that I drove so far to miss it, I was just thrilled I was able to finally see this magnificent wonder.  And just as the sun began to set, the clouds miraculously parted just enough for the pyramid to indeed glow as he told me.  It was a magical moment I will never forget!
